The most common way of sexing is from looking at the dorsal fins. You can't really see the dorsal fins that well in these pictures. Try to get a couplepics of the fish with their dorsal fins standing up, and not laid back like they are in the above pictures.

From what I can see, they both appear to be females... What size are they at the moment?

erm, most common way is by looking at the vent...

for rams new to a tank, yes it is common for them to try and scare each other away. they're disputing territories
