Yeah thats one severely deformed discus. Due to inbreeding or overcrowded conditions as it grew. It is also probably a result of inbreeding, as many discus breeders will breed children and relatives of discus broods to get the best colors and new strains. That fish should have been culled and shouldn't be allowed to breed IMO.

i think the photo has been tampered with to make the fish look like that, the missing parts of the fins seem too straight and smooth as if someone has blacked bits out, if i am wrong then i feel sorry for that poor fish

Yep, i think so too

i found it while surfing through wasanbetta.net, with the orignal source to this link found at aquabid. its some weird site which sells so called exotic fishes. including a stingray with a body shaped like a bat. its horrifying to think that all this was caused through physical modification by humans. if all this is really true, i'd probaby call for it to be shut down. hopefully with the support of other fish lovers.

It may be photoshopped but It was done by one experienced photoshopper. And I've seen some pretty nasty discus, this wouldn't suprise me.

There is no way anything could have caused this other then photoshoping either that, or they cut the fins maybe like what they do to those heart shaped parrots.

Definitely photoshopped, look at the tiny bit of reflection in the surface of the water at the top of the tank, from that the dorsal fin looks fine to me!

id say the discus has been cut like it. like stingrays that look like bats are often cut.

Thankfully no fish were harmed in the making of this discus. This one at least is a piece of fiction. Very good work, but a fake picture none the less.
