Hi, i have previously had high levels of nitrite in my tank which i have sucessfully reduced to zero and lost a few fish..my last 2 harlquins have gone a deep red colour by their tails and runnin up their body. I have checked my ph and that is 7, nitrite is zero. tank size is 65 gallon. Any suggestions anyone? :(

Red veing, blood beneath the skin, red area on the tummy is septicemia.
Issolate the fish as the bacteria from the fish can enter the tank.
Need to add a bacterial med fast as once septicemia progresses hard to cure.

I dont have anything to isolate them in, any suggestions. how do they get it?

A water change would be good, but you need to add a bacterial med.
Anti internal bacteria by interpet treats septicemia, but it not that strong so need to get started on the med if the fish stand a chance of surviving.

so if i put them in a tupperwear tub tonight inside the tank, get a bacteria treatment tmrow, do a water change, what about the filter should i do anything with that?

I would leave them in the tank as you need an airstone in the container.
Leave the filter in the tank, just remove black carbon, the med ok, but it might knock it slightly but not always.

Yes I would, Good luck.
Don't forget to increase aeration in the tank with the med as it reduces 02 in the water.
Do you have melafix for now.

No i dont have melafix, when you say increase the aeration..what exactly do you mean?

On some filters you can turn the flow up and down.
If not an airpump and airstone.

Lol, your'e not thick I didn't no equipment when I first started.
Good luck.
