Myself and our three little ones are heading up country the end of next week whilst my husband and brother in law decorate our house downstairs.

My hubby has assured me he won't risk doing anything to the tank without my being present (this does scare me!) so before I leave with the gang I am emptying as much water as possible and helping him move the tank onto the tiles so new carpets etc can be fitted. There it will stay until my return, when I can buff water drain and move back into position etc.

1. Will paint fumes effect the tank in anyway?

2. I want to paint the back of my tank and get rid of the background I have had stuck to it for years - will any bog standard black paint work? Or do I need a specific type?

Thanks for reading :D

Happy holidays me :D

When I painted a room with a tank in it I just followed the advice of others. I used latex paint, only painted one side and then waited for it to completely dry. Put fans in the room with all doors, windows open. Cut off filters and ran just my sponge filters with the air pumps in different rooms so the air they pump in is fresh. (you may need long air line tubing) covered the tank with plastic wrap, wait until the top is getting puffy from air, but not breaking the seal, and then puncturing a small hole in the plastic wrap so that the fresh air is getting pumped out, but there's no room for stale air to get in. Makes sense in my head lol.
