My 90 litre tank will be vacated in a couple of months, when the jag fry get moved on.

At that point I'll need to decide what to do with it. I already have a couple of ideas, but I need help deciding.

Shelldweller colony
A colony of multis is something I have been thinking of for some time, but the tank has a smallish footprint as it's fairly tall. I don't know how much vertical sace multis would use. I'm open to suggestions regarding tankmates, but I would prefer a species tank. As I said, my only concern is regarding the vertical use the multis would make of the water column.

Desert goby colony
Unusual fish, they have caught my interest for a while now. They will be dificoult to source though. Same issue with the multis, I don't know how "vertical" they will be, but with these at least I can decorate the tank with plants and wood so that they can use also the wood and plant surfaces.

Dwarf snakehead species tank
Channa orientalis, interesting fish too, they do well in filthy tanks, better if with a soli substrate, and I was considering a soil tank at some point. The problem is that they are bloody hard to find, even more than desert gobies, and probably quite pricey.

Elliotis and rasboras
I have an 80 litre tank which will be decommissioned. I was going to rehome all the contents, but I might consider keeping the elliotis if there turns out to be a pair. Thr espei rasboras will be kept as target fish should the elliotis breed.

Other options that I have put further down the ladder:
- Brackish crab vivarium
- Discus breeding project (it would be up there with the favourites, but I don't know if I can be arsed)
- One or two goldfish

I'm open to other ideas.

The tank development will be documented on my Youtube channel, so if you have an interesting idea you'd like to see please come forward and I'll consider it.

I have 2 pairs of GBRs in my 400l tank, and I'm getting another 2. Also I have already bred rams.

Seems like we have something in common, we both like the more "oddball" or unique fish. Something I've wanted to do with a 20 gallon for a while is getting a African butterfly fish, and then adding a couple fish to fill in the middle like a pair of apistos or peacock gudgeons. Or, you could do what I've done with one of my 20s and add the following stock
2x peacock gudgeons
5x scarlet badis
4x samurai gourami (good luck finding!)
A very colorful tank, and with the plants the fish really stand out.

Or, like I used to have a simple but surprisingly beautiful setup for a 20 gallon is 8 cardinal tetras and 6 sterbai corydoras. With 1 piece of driftwood and a black substrate, all of the plants being crypts, anubias, java fern, and a whole 1/4 of the tank carpeted by a moss ball! Also amazon swords in the corners which I didn't let get too gigantic.

Gudgeons don't really stay in the "middle" but you get the idea.

Not necessarily. If you have a look at my signature I mostly have "normal" fish, and i particularly like cichlids, but I do find some unusual fish interesting.

Personally, I'd avoid the ellioti breeding project in a tall 90 litre. You do get a fair amount of aggression between the male and female at times, and I suspect that you'd lose the female fairly fast in a tank that size.

I've been considering some red breasted acaras for a tank of a similar size.
