When you do a water change how do you dechlorinate the water before you put it back into the aquarium. The stuff I have says 1/2 teaspoon for every 40 gallons. Since I'm assuming I put it into a bucket or something since directly from the tap would be chlorinated, I can't really add 1/80 of a teaspoon to each bucket. How is it done?.

You dont' want to throw in non-dechlorinated water in the tank then add drops for the whole tank. Instead do what i do. My bottle directions say 2 tsp per 10 gallons and I have 5 gallon buckets for water changes, so I just half the dosage and put 1tsp of de-chlorinator in the bucket of new water. Let it sit for 15 mins to remove metals and such. Then you're good to go!

I had that problem too...what I did was...I took the amount my dechlor. recommended for 27gallons slurped it up with a pipette, dripped it out one drop at a time and counted how many drops it was. then i divided the number of drops to work out how many I'd need for my bucket. :)

That's pretty strong stuff. My dechlor says 1/2 tablespoon for every 40 litres, or 10 gallons, could it be that you've misread the label accidentally?

To answer your question, I just use the appropriate percentage of my bucket compared to the recommended dosage, like everyone else here does.
