The male I bought a week ago was dead this morning :-( There was no signs of sickness or injury so I just do not know what happened. It was a young male that seemed healthy and was not being harassed by the other male. I had just done a 40% water change and gravel vac. I have also had a Blue/Black male die under strange circumstances during a lights out on 28 Aug. Again that fish had no signs of sickness or injury. I would think that having seven females an only two males should be okay. The orange male had not shown any agression to the Koi or the Black. Perhaps Morris is a Jeckel and Hyde story and turned into a monster after lights-out  The tank shows all signs of being in top form and is a 30 gal with good planting and underwent a major cleaning two weeks ago to reduce the pest snails. This is FRUSTRATING!!!!!

Sorry to hear that Paul. :( My Koi Swordie male also just died, and I'm sad too because the females don't appear to be pregnant at all (If that's possible? :p )

Sorry for your losses, :rip: little guys.

Sorry Paul and Annastasia. :( My luck doesn't seem to be looking much better, one of my 2 females is acting poorly. I've moved her to a separate tank to monitor her. She's been fine for 6 weeks or so but then in the last couple of days started hiding and looking very stressed and unhappy. She's in a 10 gallon by herself now and hangs either behind the filter at the surface or justs sits on the bottom below the filter. Occasionally she'll venture out a little but then she stays at the top looking scared. I'm not holding my breath that she's going to survive long. My other female is doing ok so far, and is getting nice and plump so I moved her to a different tank as well in hopes of babies soon! The male, who is an all white albino by the way, is now roaming the 55 gallon tank in the company of 2 very attractive pineapple girls. He apparently doesn't miss his original 2 girlfriends very much.

Awww, I'll be sending good fishy wishes your way for the girlie! :)

I hope you get some fry! That'd be so exciting.

The filter medium was not cleaned and the water was tested before the fish we put back and they were in place a week before the new Kois were introduced.
