Hey guys, I have some bad news, today I found my male swordfish dead attached to the filter.

I'm not exactly sure why he died, but does it have anything to do with the fact that my gourami are semi-agressive, and should i take them out of my community tank??

Also, I just got the swordtail about 2 days ago, and the other female swortails (3) all living peacefully?

Any Ideas of what might have happened?

The gouramis should be perfectly fine with your swordies, I don't think that would have been the problem. Was the male new too? What are your water stats like?

yea the male was new as well, I didn't exactly cylce the tank, and no testing equipment!!

I think im gonna do a water change thoughh.

saince you have dwarf gouramis it is probably not the gourami. the only gouramis that can do any damage are the full sized ones. it is most likely because your tank is not cycled although my first tank i had 2 swordtails survive the cycle twice so i think there may be something else to it

Did the gourami go in after the swordy?
In which case I'd assume the swordy had suffered gill damage from the high ammonia/ nitrite from the beginning of the cycle, then when the bio-load increased with the new gourami causing ammonia/nitrite to spike again, he couldn't cope with it due to the pre-existing gill/other health damage.
