Hi all,

I got this big time problem. I bought a anemone for my two percula clowns are both of it got sting to death from the anemone....
How i knew it was the anemone that kill them?? they were doing perfect b4 the anemone came, and i could the sting corrosion on the clown b4 they died....just like if any other fish would swim into the anemone.
Could it be the clowns are just weak?? Well, I bought a skunk clown...guess what? same thing happened.
Someone gotta help me with this deadly thing in my tank
Ps. - can't pluck it out.....it has been STUCK to the rock.

1) What size tank is it?

2) How much light is it?

Reason i'm asking is I've heard anemones can be real jerks if they are underspaced or underlit....

Not all anemones are natural hosts to clownfish. Some anemones dont even have clownfish in their native ocean. I had a condy anemone which is definately not a host for clowns. My maroon took to it and was successful but this also is not a usual pairing.

Im sorry to say that anemones are basically just too much hassle and IMO should really be left in the ocean. You would have been far better off getting a largfe mushroom leather coral (Sarcophyton or similar) as clowns will take to these leathers and of course they cant get stung.

As for not being able to remove the nenny.. there is a way...
Get lots of icecubes, place an icecube next to the foot of the anemone, it will retract from the cold as a natural reflex, keep doing this around the foot until the anemone comes free. This doesnt damage or stress the anemone when compared to just ripping it out.
