Dead Snail

I just bought an albino mystery snail that the guy at the lfs said was very much alive, the whole time from the store and now in my 5 gallon aquarium with my crowntail betta he hasnt moved a millimeter, I think he's dead but my parents keep telling me it takes a while for the snail to move (what do they know anyways) can you give me some help? Thanks, if that bastard gave me a dead snail I'm going to be mad.

Is he all sealed up in his shell?

If he's closed his door he might well be alive, in my experience, dead snails go all baggy and dangle out of their shells and there's no mistaking they are dead.

He's got a little bit less than a centimeter hanging out of his shell and he's been like that the whole time.
