I just found one of my rubberlip fish dead and I was wondering how he died... he is upsidedown, his mouth is sort of open and stretched out.. almost his entire stomache area is red/ purple and below it is red also.... my other fish ( before h died) were acting strange and i was wondering mabey its a sort of side effect from the 3 day vacation feeder I put in ( disolved )

Sounds like septicemia i'm afraid bless him, sorry for your loss.R.I.P.

Not the writer of this information below.
Septicemia- A condition where bacteria gains entry into the fish's body through wounds or the stomach. The bacteria can cause failure of the internal organs, damage to body tissue, blood vessels, and result in recognizable symptoms. This often results in internal bleeding, due to the fluids filling the fish's abdomen. Dropsy may occur as a result. The problem with this type of situation is that the bacteria is present inside the fish and safe from the antibiotics you would place in the water. It could be the result of another infection or caused from dirty water. Symptoms: Clamped fins, bulging eyes, red bellies, eroding, reddened fins, lack of appetite, and fish showing signs of being sluggish or exhibiting sluggish behavior. Treatment: It is best to feed the fish antibiotics rather than using the kinds you place directly into the water. Placing the ill fish in a hospital tank is advised while administering treatment. Check your local petstore for some good medicated food or check for antibiotics if necessary. Septicemia is fatal if not treated immediately!

Okay.. well.. to be on the safe side.. what should i do with my other fish? I can't treat the rubber lip since he already died... and the only med i have on me here is Melafix at the moment...????

Just a few daily water changes, just keep a close eye on them, had the fish pecked at him.

If not they should be fine, as it was internal, is your water quality good.

well... I'll do a change now... should i do a normal 35-50% or someother % ? and I'm leaving on the 18th and have a 10 day vacation feeder and then the day it should be totally gone and disolved my sister and father gets home so they can put another 3 day feeder in then when thats gone I get home... should i change plans with the vac. feeder and just have a relative feed them? (I prefer not o do that....)

Carry on with your plans, do a 30% water change then lower it to a 20% for the next two days.
