55 litre tank, pH, Nit and ammonia are perfect, we recently had a problem with fin rot to which we lost some guppies but that problem is passed but thsi morning i checked on the fish and one of my guppies was very pale, didn't even seem interested in food and it looked as if he had herniated his bowl with a long red mass petruding from his anus. Within an hour he had died. His tail and fins were not rotted.
I am very concerned for the rest of the tank any ideas what it could have been?

Well first I thought of intestenal worms or similar but then you said about the tail rotting too...it could be that the parasite was making him weak and so his immune system could not fight off the fungus which was still present in your tank in unnoticable levels but this is all guess work so i might be wrong

Bless him R.I.P.
The red mass can you describe it in more detail.
Did it look like red mincemeat with white bits in it.

It was a long red mass with feaces coming out of it...essentially i think it was its gut :-( His tail was not rotted just very pale. We added 2 more guppies about 2 months ago they are fine. This was just so sudden i'm paranoid about it being something that will effect the other fish

Ok poor thing.
I would just keep a close eye on the fish.
If you think your fish have internal parasites you will need to treat the whole tank.
