I recently bought 5 female guppies to add to my community. I bought these fish 2 days ago and within the last 3 hours 3 of them have died. The two remaining ones have speckles on them but they really look like its just tiny bubbles on them. I have had a look at some threads on ich and was wondering if this may be the cause. I willtry and get some form of med tommorrow but is there anything i can do in the meantime?

My current tank mates are

6 guppies
4 plattys
6 neon tetras
3 angels
2 rusty plec
1 bulldog Plec
4 dwarf gouramis

cheers guys!

Hello there

Guppies are very fradgile fish when it comes to transporting them, they don't tend to survive particularly well with being moved into new tanks etc.

If you are going to use a treatment but aren't 100% sure as to what to use, try methalyne blue, it will stain your decor so I would remove it first, if you use too much then it can damage your filter media and plants, I have used it twice in the past at half dose and it worked fine. It tends to solve most diseases, expect not to be able to see your fish for a few days though as your tank will turn extremely blue!

I would add a small amount of aquarium salt and raise the temperature to 27 degrees, oh and if your water stats aren't up to scratch a water change will also help.

Good luck, I hope your fish get better!

hi i used meth blue and it changed the colour of my water for nearly a month still after water changes,i personaly would use white spot treatment if you say they look bubbley i had this i find thats how it looks when they have it i would use a treatment for that but not meth blue just from my experiance i will not go back as i said my water turned a deep blue i spoke to my local sotre about it andy they dont recomend to use it any more because if this purpose?

my stats are fine. Only did a water change 2 days ago. Can i add salt even with my plecs?

What are your stat's eexactly? I add salt before with pleco's, and they never had any problem's. Note: Aquarium salt isnt the smae thing as table salt, or ocean salt.

My stats are:

0ppm Amonia
0ppm Nitrites
10ppm Nitrates
8.0Ph
