Our fish have all died, except our two rosy barbs, it initially started out as white spot - ich, both black moors and platties got it, we checked the water - that was ok, and was told to use protozin- 3 mls for our 48 litre tank, every day for two days, all four fish died two days ago, except the rosy barbs. Funnily enough the moors produced a white film over their bodies before they died, and now the two surviving rosy barbs have it plus the white film. What the hells going on here. We are both obviously upset.

Not meaning to have a go at you but............. please don't say you mean black moors as in the goldfish type?
Why do people think they can keep coldwater fish with tropical fish? Plus any goldfish grows waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to big for a 48ltr tank.

Some questions.

Can you post water stats please?
What temp did you have the tank at?
Is the film milky in colour?
Did you fish change their behaviour before they died?
Can you provide a picture of the rosy barbs please?

Pretty sure wilder will be along to help you after you answer these questions and post water stats.
Protozin is ok for ich but if they have a white film on their bodies then they have something else aswell.

Me and my partner are new to fish, however we had the water checked by a near by pet shop, they told us the water was fine; by black moors, forgive my ignorance I mean they were black fantails and was told they were cold water fish, 50 litre tank I believe is big enough i've been told, they were quite healthy when we bought them. They have all been very sluggish before they died, the barbs are not good at the moment, they have the white film. Could it be something else, the pump?

This is just for in case you want more fantails in the future. One fantail needs a 20 gallon tank and 10 gallons for each extra fantail.

Ok, let me get a few things out of the way. Your tank is honestly too small for any sort of goldfish, or the rosy barbs. The barbs can get around five inches, so they are not going to be suited to that tank.
My advice for right now? Post your problem in the emergency section of the forum, you will get help much faster in there.

Not sure if you cycled the tank or not, but you're going to want to check out about cycling and such in the beginners resource center section of the forum.

Fancy goldfish, rosy barbs and certain platies (Xiphophorus variatus) can be kept at the same temp as they are all basically sub-tropical fish (as fancy goldfish can not be kept at the colder temps that 'regular' goldfish can be) however your tank is only going to be able to house the platies comfortably. I would suggest trying to save the barbs, but if they go I would clean out the tank and start again. I would also suggest coming back here first before setting it back up, as we can help you with cycling and also with helping you pick out fish that you want that will go well together and also fit in your tank.

Good luck :good:
