my fish appear to be swimming around the top of the tank and have had two fish die water stats are fine but the tank is only three weeks old any ideas thanks

Hi,

Did you cycle the tank before adding fish? How big is the tank? When you say the tests are fine are your ammonia and nitrIte 0 and nitrate under 40? If not the tank is still cycling, daily water changes of 25% should keep your fish alive.

What fish died and what fish are still in there?

Emma :)

we had high ammonia in 10g tank so we did a 25% water change with water safe in and also added ammo lock this made the fish have less oxygen which forced them to top of the tank(we think) one cori died and one sword tail died after we crrently have two sword tails in tank aswell as 2 guppies one male and one female also we have 2 aquatic frigs aswell as a shark like fish cnt memba name lol :S

Your tank seems somewhat overstocked... I would suggest doing water changes daily or every other day until your tank cycles, as well as returning some of the fish to the lfs if you are overstocked.

The fish you mention two of your threads don't match, or, rather, you mention fish here that you did not mention in the newbie thread. Therefore, I have been unable to figure out how many fish you have, exactly. Could you make a list, please? Thanks

well i have 2 aquatic frogs
2 guppies
2 swordtails
and two sharky things lol im a newbie

What do the sharks look like can you describe them.

Yes, naming the sharks would help. Also, you called your swords mollies in the other thread, hence a great deal of the confusion. :p

Also, are the frogs you have African Dwarf Frogs, or are they clawed frogs? (Is there webbing present between the individual digits or not). If you have clawed frogs, in time your fish will get eaten. Otherwise, since you are a newbie, you probably have not purchased any, but frozen food is the best thing to offer those frogs.

You haven't said what the shark look like, as they will probably will be to big for your tank.

its not a shark it looks a little like a shark i think they might be barbs maybe tinfoil ones they are not very big

Hi,

If they are tinfoil barbs they grow over a foot long, or are they bala sharks? Also grow over a foot long.

Emma -_-
ummm i dunno lol i have taken some pics will upload them they are about 2.3 cms long pics below
this is one of the bigger fish lol

this is the sharky thingy lol :)

Lucky you it's not a shark. Looks like a black phantom tetra, tetras should be in groups of 6+

Emma :)
thnx emma total angel :) another question i think my guppy is pregnant but i only have a 10g tank and im worried that when the fry are born they will get eaten :( i have a small breeding tank which is like a tub which floats in tank and help?

Unless you have more tanks to grow the fry, it's best to leave them in the main tank and do survival of the fittest, if you have lots of plants some should survive. Breeding nets are only really suitable for a couple of weeks then become death traps. The guppys will have 30+ fry every 4 weeks and it's easy to become over run. Pet shops will only take fry at a certain size so you need room to raise them.

Emma :)
