Hi All,

I came in from work this morning and found 1 Balck Platty and one Red Tailed Shark dead  , the rest of the fish are swimming around as normal. I tested the water and the Nitrates had risen to 25 from 10 when I last tested every thing else as normal - Nitrite 0
Ph 7.2

Not sure about the ammonia, ran out of tester, but I have been using an ammonia remover in my Fluval 104.

Like I say all the others are fine, what's the problem? Is it just one of those things or something else.

Help!!!!

I'm sorry about this, i'm getting really tired now (nightshift on a Friday is a killer).

I performed a 25% water change and the nitrates etc returned to normal.

Steve....

Don't use an ammonia or nitrite remover in your filter - the (beneficial) bacteria need them to survive.

Plus with ion exchange media and activated carbon, if you leave them in too long, once they reach saturation point they can release all the sorbed material back into the water very quickly.

Check your ammonia levels.
