Dead Fish Pls Help

Hi Everyone,

Not long been home from work and found a dead platy in my tank.


The tank is 240 litres.

Tank Stats

PH 7.5

Ammonia 0.25

Nitrate 5.0

Nitrite 0


I know i need to do a water change but whats has caused this, tank stock is in my profile, did my regular water change on sunday 25% and did my monthly filter clean, which is a eternal eheim and it was rinsed in tank water?

Looks like you have over done the sponges as you have an ammonia reading.
That can casue a fish to die, water change, increase aeration.

When you clean your filter, you dint do all of it did you?
All you really need to do is rinse off the big blue sponge that catches the large debris (usually at the bottom of the filter) and leave the rest alone. If you have washed it all then you will have probably destroyed a large part of your bacterial colony.
