Well, i found my female sucked into my filter halfway...
i know she was sick already but i hate throwing them down teh toilet etc.
because i always try to have hope...
well anyways i have 3 baby fish that are about no more than a week old,
11/12ish baby fish that are about a monthish old and then there's 5adult guppis.
i was wondering if having the dead guppy in the tank for NO MORE than 24 hours would affect the others
i went away last night so and came back at 3ish today, so it would be like 16-20ish hours that she woule have been in there if she died right away.
so yah..any help would be great! because i don't want to end up having any more sick/dead fish.

Not good to leave a rotting fish in the tank, plus we don't know what she died of.
I would recommend some dialy water changes.
R.I.P.

her fins where partially torn and well she also looked quite old, i had her for a yearish
and she was i think at the pet store for like...3 months at least..
they don't sell very many fish so i'd say old age, and stress of having little baby fish EVERYWHERE
and always probably an infections from having a torn fin/fin rot, which ever it was.

Sounds like it.
Livebearers have young all the time and it takes it toll on there body usually meaning there lifespan is cut short.

No, there no need if the fish are ok.
Problem with adding meds all the time the fish get used to them and then they don't work eventually.

well all the fish are acting alright so i guess they're fine.
but..i've never added any meds. only chemicals i've used is the water conditioner...haha

I do hope the rest of your fish are ok, but please don't toss fish down the toilet in the future- it can introduce disease into your local areas that might not have had it/icky stuff like that. But hopefully you won't have any more losses! Good luck!

if i don't and i put them in a garbage bag or whatever either one of my cats will go at it because..it's fish or my dog will think it's food.
because my dogs eaten candy canes whole pacakges of gum ect. so i'm pretty sure it'd be a bad thing if i put it in the garbage.

flushing down the toilet is never a good move.

tie your rubbish bags up and put them somewhere the animals wont get them. mite help to train them not to go through your garbage too cos it cnt be nice

plus im sure if you dont your neighbours will throw away something thats a bit more appealing than a sick dead guppy.

ashamed to say but my fish take a flying funeral into the woods next door as the garbage men dont come often and i dont have neighbors :S is this a bad thing

i think perhaps i might do that next time...to kinda of bury them...but just fling them over my bush into the bushes on the other side. haha
