One of my danios died today :rip: :byebye:

when I took him out he had a wee bit of red on his tummy, it looked like a bruise.

I have had him for about three years. How old do they live?

My other danio looks fine so I dont no if this is an isolated problem or what, all other fish are ok.

:dunno:

Sorry to hear about your loss. :-(

I don't know that much about danios so I can't comment on their lifespan, but maybe the fish swum into something really hard, injured itself and had internal bleeding?

It's not a very nice thought, although it might have happened......

Are you talking about a zebra danio? If you are, 3 years is about the standard lifespan for a zebra danio. I wouldn't be worried, fishes tend to go weird colours after dying.

3 to four years is the average age for tank kept danios.
pat yourself on the back for keeping it all this time fit and well.

:( oh well, cheers for the info, i hope he/she is happy in the big tank in the sky :-(

Well done on a long and healthy life.

looks like a bacterial infection/dropsy finished it off. Frustratingly common with danios I am afraid
