I have had two albino corys for more than five years now and one has recently died. I was very sad but she had a good innings. I got two more to keep the other one company about a week ago. They were sold as reticulatus but they do not have a black dorsal spot? One died the day after I bought it I put this down to shock. I bought another the day before yesterday but this has also died. I am worried I about the other new one and if I have bought in a disease which may affect the remaining old one. Any help?

All water tests normal.

Sometimes, if you dont acclimate them well, they can die in a couple a days. This is what my LFS told me, and they were right. I did it the way they told me, and it worked great.

That's what I would be banking on in your tank. How well do you acclimate them?

Hi

Thanks for the answer - I left them in the bag for 30 minutes and then carefully tipped them into the tank. This is what I have always done is there a better way?

I have also researched and some people say that they do not transit well and sometimes die due to poor handling on route - could it be this?

Merry Xmas

Yea, that could be it too, but they way you acclimated them isn't that great. What I do, is take a bowl, put the bag in the bowl, and get a coffee mug. Every 4 minutes, I dump a coffee mug of water into the bag. Usually, after the third dump, I dump some water out (into the sink), and wait a few more minutes and do the last one. Then, get your net and fish him out, and put him into the tank. Just dump the water from the bag down the drain.

This works great for me, and seems to keep my fish alive and happy after acclimation.

Hi

Thanks for the help so far.

The barbs looked long with no fungus. I tested the water for pH, ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. pH 7.5, nitrites and ammonia 0ppm and nitrates <40ppm. Hope this helps.

Thanks again cool_jool
