Added 3 Leopard Corys about 6 weeks ago. Has been clear in the last couple of weeks that 2 had grown quite a bit, but 1 was still very small. I wondered whether , perhaps, this one was a female so smaller or vice versa. Today, however, this one has died.

Since adding the Corys, I have been having a bit of a battle with raised Nitrite readings which I have managed to bring back down to normal by water changes. Currently it seems ok.

Any observations?

Corys are sensitive to water quality. This is the reason it's recommended to add Corys only to a stable tank, one that has been stable for 3 months. Is your tank still cycling....

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Male corys are smaller than females, , plus females corys fatter around the tummy region.

Hi homerhotspur

Sorry to hear about your Leopard cory. I hope the others are ok.

Thanks all.

So far the other 2 seem ok. I think , perhaps, the little chap just found it hard to cope. Maybe the Nitrite problems were too much for him. As far as I know, the tank was established, all readings had previously been ok. It was only after I introduced the Corys that the Nitrite level went up. I don't really have any other specific readings.

Keeping a close watch on everything.

Corys are very sensitive to water qaulity dosn't take much for them to come down ill.
