Is it ok to have a dead coral in a freshwater aquarium? basically im setting up a new tank and trying to find stuff around the house to throw in there, and as for fish decor i have that which i think would look good in there, but is that bad for pH?

Dead coral will significantly raise your pH and hardness (as well as dissolving, ruining the decoration). If you need to buffer or raise your pH or hardness you'd be better off using crushed coral or coral sand in your filter, or using limestone in your decor.
