Dead Betta, Missing Neon

So i came home from the LFS today to bring my 4 new Platies home to discover my betta dead in the tank. He was perfectly healthy and all the water parameters are in range. Heres my question, before I left I had 6 Neon Tetras when i got back and found him dead there were 5, is it a possibility that he tried to eat the tetra and died?

eep, did you try and check if there was anything in his mouth?
I guess he could have choked, though not sure if bettas really tackle things whole

its possible. he may have partialy ate it and choked and the other neons ate the rest
