de-ionised water

We have a water softening plant at work, but it also de-ionises it. This is no good for fish is it????? :dunno:
 
A lot of RO units have DI filters as one of the last filters in the system. They are made for fish keepers. I have also heard that Brita filters, which are DI filters as far as I'm aware, contain substances which are bad for fish health. I suppose it depends on the filter's chemical make-up.
