That's really looks great. I'm sure you have a good time. That elephant looked really friendly.

Since you got to go behind the scenes, where you wishing you could pat the lions? I know I owuld have been and if it had of been I tiger an atomic bomb wouldn't blasted me away from it. So cool that you got to hold a cameleon, they are fascinating critters. Rhino's I hear have a real sweet tooth and can be quite tame around people they know and as for the meerkats....well I would have been wanting to stuff one in a pocket (no I wouldn't do it but the temptation would be great). Nice pics.

ha ha its funny you should say about the meerkats. They were in with the marmosets and the keeper told me they had a real problem with people trying to pinch both of them

the lions were ace . I couldn;t get out next to them but I had a really good view as I was in a land rover with the lion keeper who was driving next to them revviong the engine and banging the side and making the lions chase us. He said it was good exercise for them which was evident to see and it was great to see the lions hunt "you". You could see in their eyes trying to cut the car off they showed a different side to their character that you don;t see when they just sit and laze about

Actually zoo's have a real problem with people pinching animals out of the displays, I've even heard of some kids that some how managed to nick a penguin from its exhibit and to stop it managing to peck/ bite them they kept its mouth closed with some elastic bands. Now that is brazen

A few years ago a car company thought it would be a great photo op and put one of their brand new cars in with a pride of lions, well the car became the lions latest enrichment exercise and they procedeed to pull off all the bits they could and even popped the tyres. And I know what you mean by how the eyes change, my galah that could be really sweet to me could also flick a switch in his head, his eyes would change and an attack would come.
You were lucky to get so close too and feed the elephants- it is possible to get nearly that close to the elephants at Dubbo Zoo in Australia where I have been but years ago. My husbands sister who is currently living in Kenya has actually adopted an orphan elepahant. The baby stays at the rescue centre with it's surrogate mother and my SIL pays the carers wage, elephant's milk etc and its bedding.

Haha looks like your about to give that seal a smack
Great pics mate

ha ha after seeing how big and strong they are I;d run the other way; amazing animals the seal the bond between it and the keeper was amazing it was just like my dog

It looks like my dog after a swim haha

The tigers looking at you like its gunna eat ya.

that bongo was so cute, it was a weak one they had taken home to raise and was seperated from the group but followed the keeper round like a dog

Wow! I interned at Miami Metro Zoo during my Senior Year in high school and daily tasks involved a lot of what you did that day. Feeding, etc. It was probably one of the most amazing experiences in my life. I really could have gone either way and was a double major in both Music and biology (pre Med) for three years before I finally decided on music.

Those are great pictures, Simon
