Hi everyone. I'm new to fish forums although have prowled about picking up useful info before. I bought one fish tank two years ago and now have six - it's a bit addictive isn't it!?

All was going fairly well - have home grown guppies and platies from my first tanks - until I bought six Dawn Tetras for my little 45cm tank - to keep 4 Honey and 3 Sparkling Gouramis company. Young lad in fish shop recommended them. One Dawn died straight away - the others are very healthy and have been getting more and more aggressive. Two months later, the gouramis spent most of the day hiding from them, so decided I had to do something about it. I put the Dawns in a larger tank with Tiger Barbs, Pearl and Zebra Danios; ready to take them out again if they got into trouble. Far from it .... they attacked the Danios (the largest of which is about five times the size of a Dawn) which all disappeared into the undergrowth. Even the Tiger Barbs became a lot more subdued. After a couple of days the Pearl Danios started looking very slimy - stress I guess - so took the Dawns out again (Danios look better). Dawns are now in another 45cm tank with just two golden Rams - who were fairly aggressive but are now being bullied by Dawns.
Any suggestions? :dunno:

dawns maybe a small fish but they are naturally fiesty.
I now keep my dawns in a tank that contains two large festivums,
which seems to work for me. (even so they still try it on with them.)

I also use my dawns as dithers for my kribs to induce them to spawn.

Thanks for that - trouble is funds (and space!) won't stretch to more tanks. I have a couple of Koi angels - but wouldn't they eat the dawns?

IME the dawns are far too fast to be eaten by angels
I did have two angels in the tank with the festivums and dawns untill the festivums beat up the angels.

Well, that could be the answer then. Thanks. If they do get eaten - it does at least solve the problem - but they're pretty little things.
