Today I put Carmel and You Beta's tanks next to while cleaning off my desk and when I came back to check up on them Carmel had jumped into You Beta's tank. I got them out right away! I saw shredded fins at the bottom but I do not see much damage on Carmel or You Beta. But the thing is that You Beta turned from his black shiny color to a sickly brown color after I took Carmel out. Is that natural?

This is a perfect example of why lids or something covering the tank is essential
Could not have said it better myself.

I've been keeping bettas for over four years now and have NEVER had one jump out of it's tank. And I've probably had as many as 15 bettas at one time. So probably close to 30 total.
