I messed up when building PVC pipe caves for my Apistos. The pipes are covered with gravel on the outside, but bright white on the inside. I think this is what is stopping them from living in there, as 1 pair is perfectly happy living inside the top of an ornament. I don't really feel like remaking the caves, and black PVC is quite a bit more expensive and more difficult to get. Is there any way to darken the insides of the pipes? I have some flame moss growing outside, which helps shade the entrances a little, but not much.
If not, how else can I make a relatively disguised cave? I don't particularly like the look of coconut shells, it looks quite out of place imo.
