After looking at my tank I've decided that what I need are dark coloured fish. I was warned off silver dollars in my planted tank, The tank has gravel and sand in to make it look like the natural bottom of a stream and both are fairly light. What fish could I have as a shoal which won't fin nip if I decide after all to get a siamese fighting fish. I saw some beauties in the lfs and I do like them. I've spent the morning searching the 'net to try and find dark coloured fish. I'm wary of tetras in case they fin nip. I would like to buy around 10 of them so I won't want anything which grows humungous.

I've looked at pictures of those and they are too pale. Thanks for the post though.

Only ones I can think of (not shoaling as such) are black guppies, platies or mollies -_-

Comes in full black but good luck finding it,

Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi - black neon tetra

Beckford's Pencilfish - Nannostomus beckfordi

Even though you shouted at me....:p

I also wanted a dark shoaling fish. I have a 29 gallon bow front with Eco-Complete substrate. I didn't want the dither fish to outshine the Dwarf Blue Rams who are the stars of the tank. The Harlequin Rasboras worked out great! :good:
