hi,

i bought ten bags of daphnia from my lfs yesterday.

i put them all in a big bottle with extra water.

i got some tiny little babies. but a lot of the big ones are just dead at the bottom.

ive put it on my window sill hoping algae will grow to feed them.

is it normal the big ones died? i read they live for a year.

i read little black dots are eggs. i have lots of those. would these be unhatched eggs or already hatched eggs.

will the baby daphnia feed off the dead daphnia till alagae grows?

ok theyre just all dead now.

anyone able to offer any advice?

Best thing to do is ask your LFS which day they get their live foods in and buy them then, or the day after, as they only last a few days anyway. When you've bought them fresh, use them within a couple of days. Keep any unopened bags cool in the fridge (if that's not too unpopular at home!). Don't put any dead ones in the tank.
