Hi everyone
Am cycling a 45g for loaches with glowlight tetras. Have had a small ammonia spike and changed water and now nothing happenning. Am thinking of adding dannios to help cycle and also encourage glowlights to feed (they seem lost in such a big tank). Is this a good idea? :dunno:

No. If you had an ammonia spike you don't want more fish. Leave it and do water changes if you see a spike but don't completely remove all ammonia.

Glolight tetras are not the best fish to cycle with IMO and next time I'd reccomend you do a fishless cycle.

If the glolights are destressed, return them and do a fishless cycle. It's quicker and less stressful for both you and the fish. You can use fish food for ammonia if you can't find pure ammonia and do a very large water change before adding fish to remove excessive nitrAtes once the cycle is complete. Read the link in my signature for more on fishless cycling and cycling in general. It's one of the pinned topics.

Good luck!

Thanks sylvia the glos don't seem distressed but are not feeding so will return them to small tank
Thanx
