In my lfs, I noticed a label on a tank that said either 'glow light danios' or 'glow danios', I can't quite remember. The tank was empty, but on the label was a picture of one of them and it didn't look like a glofish.

I don't want one, but I wondered whether it was just a glofish when it's under normal light, or is it some breed of danio that I've just not come across before?

its a new breed of danio, i was tempted to buy but at £3.50 each thats too much for a shoal! pretty fish

It's a new man-produced breed of Danio. Still much controversy surrounds it in the hobby (please note: I am not trying to start the debate here  ). I don't think it actually produces luminescence itself (i.e. lights up in complete darkness), I believe it just greatly "reflects" a certain spectrum (red) from the ambient light, producing an effect that looks very much as if the fish is generating the light itself.

pendragon!

Theres 2 fish, the glowlight danio, latin name danio choprae, looks like a glowlight tetra, very pretty and only small 1/2 inch and this is a natural fish,

I think the one ur pebdragon is the genetically modifed zebra danio, still has stripes but is really bright red/purple

Glowfish are the genetic combination of the gene for red fluorescent protein found in sea anemones genetically inserted in the gene of a zebra danio. There's a big contreversy on these fish. Frankly, I don't think they're all the amazing. I've had zebra danios before and they scared my clown loaches too much becuase of their fast swimming. The ones I saw don't really look that flourescent. My Cardinal Tetras reflect light alot better and look cool under low light, compared to the glowfish.

Glowlight danios (Danio choprei) are I believe yellowish, which look almost like a glowlight tetra, but basically more yellow. They come from Thailand, I believe.

that pic doesnt really do them justice, the ones i saw were much prettier, exactly like a glowligth tetra but witha shiny finish, would look awesome as a shoal as looked very active but at £20 for 6 too expensive for me!
