Ok i think i may be looking to deeply.

My Danios and Scissortails seem to have red gills (no expert to the fish so this could be normal)

My Platies are fine.

The levels are fantastic Ammonia 0, NitrIte 0 and Nitrate 12.5 mg/l. I do 60Ltr water changes per week. Loads of water agitation so no O2 probs. They DONT hang around the top of the water line.

And everything seems good, apart from they look red. Is this Normal People????

are they swollen? are the fish gasping?
is there any abnormal behaviour?

Red gills can be high nitrites, but nitrite reading is good, so it can't be that, also red gill can mean gill parasites, are they flicking and rubbing against objects, heavy breathing inflamed, also add some salt to the tank if the fish you keep can tolerate it.

Can you see any little whitespots on the fish looks like they have been sprinkled with salt.

Then I'd say, as there are no other problems, you have healthy danios
some of my zebras have red gills others, they are un-noticable. They are more prominant on my golden zebras but half my normal ones you can see the red interior.
