I recently bought two long-finned zebra danios :good: and right when i put them in one of them started chasing the other. This continued the whole day and especially during feeding  . The second day it continued happening but i noticed that the one that was chasing the other one was not biting, but instead was just rubbing against the other one. Could i have a male and a female, with the male trying to mate and the female running away. Also the "female" is always hiding behind my plants.

with there only being two my guess would be an agression issue to see who's boss as such, you should have at least 5 idealy, what size is the tank and are there any other fish? did you cycle the tank before adding fish?

The tank is a 10 U.S gallon tank. It was recently cycled and these danios are the only fish in there right now.

probably just oh im the boss issue then, in a 10 gal though if you up the number to 5 your pretty much fully stocked. do you have your test results?

Well i bring my water to my lfs once a week to get it tested and 2 days ago? they said ammonia was at 0 and everything else was good. Do you have any suggestions for stocking the rest of my tank if i was to get 2 or 3 more danios. I was thinking of some invertebrates (maybe ghost shrimp?).

yeah you could have 3 more danios then 5 shrimp as they add very little if any to the bioload

that would be about it, can't think of anything else to reccomend, but you could look at the topic hear and maybe change your mind to some of them instead, HERES the topic

Thanks for the advice. Do you think i could get two more danios, 2 or 3 pygmy cories, and then two or three ghost shrimp; or would that be over crowded?
