okay my mom made me take my tank downstairs so i took it down and all this stuff.. this took like 2-3 hours now my ammonia is at like 4.0 and i fed the usual. i think my bacteria died

oh yeah i did a substrate change... the sands outside right now and its been like unwet without food for like 24 hours... it rained yesterday so that mighta helped... and should i try to get some sand in like a bag to get the bacteria back in or is it dead

It sounds like when you changed the substrate, you removed a whole lot of the bacteria. Did you change your filter too? It's advisable never to completely replace more than one thing at a time within a week or so of each other. (e.g. water/substrate/filter) If the sand is dry, the bacteria are most likely dead. Can you get some bio-spira, or maybe a handful of substrate or used (still wet) filter media from a friend?

Otherwise, constant water changes, water tests and patience.

yeah... i didnt do anything with the filter except like 5 hours later i cleaned out the mech filter thing cuz the water flow was reduced so much that it was coming out of the space by the intake tube (penguin 125)
yeah i think its dead but its worth a shot eh :) but at least my filter is fully cycled now
