I am a newbie and have had my tank for 6 months now. This evening I was horrified to find a fry-looking beast catching and eating my fry. I thought they were safe in their special nursery tanklet (the floating plastic tank for birthing....with thin slots for water flow).
He's currently swimming in a scallop shell and I have NO idea what I should do with him... Or what I should call him... I wouldn't mind if he turns out to be a beautiful Damselfly...I've 50 fry left and a few less wouldn't hurt... He keeps looking at me with his buggy eyes and threatening me with his tail... with his six legs he walks sedately around the shell jail and can wiggle-swim fast! He's the size of my month-old guppy fry (half an inch). How many of my babies must he have eaten to get that big?!
I researched and found he's a Damselfly larva but when searching for fishkeepers coming across them I can't find any reference online of this happening. Has anyone else had one? Where did it come from? And it's February!
Help!
