Hey, I'm relatively new to this forum but I'm glad I've found it. I'm a recent owner of a saltwater aquarium and there is only so much a text book will tell me. Anyways everything has been going fine until I added a new Honey Damsel to my collection ( this one is about 1/4" larger than the other honey damsel). The new and larger damsel is very hostile and aggressive towards the other damsel of the same kind however it seems to enjoy "rubs" with my domino damsel. Should I take this damsel out and upset the domino? I've read a lot about removing damsels that bully others, what would you guys do? ( Are they only aggressive towards it's own kind? because I also have 2 domino damsels which get along really well, I'm also aware of their pugnacious behavior as they mature but they will receive a new tank then ! :D). Thanks for the help

Damsels are little punks both towards their own kind and other fish. They are extremely territorial and often cannot be added to a tank with established damselfish in it. Bullying is common, fierce, and perhaps deadly in the longterm with these guys. Removing the aggressor is really the onlly answer and a difficult proposition to be sure. Good luck trying to catch him and be prepared to ahve to dismantle the entire rockwork to do so :(

Damselfish are known for incompatibility troubles like you're describing, which is why I never reccomend them to anyone :). Good luck with yours.

Thanks, I started with two dominoes and they got a long fine, then added 1 four stripped damsel and a honey damsel. They were all getting along just find ( maybe I got lucky, the 2 dominoes chase each other around but nothing fierce) It's this recent add that has been giving me trouble. :(
