We just recently ventured into having fish. So far it has not gone well! We started out with three Guppies and one Dalmation Molly. The Molly was much larger than the Guppies so we asked the guy at PetSmart to make sure that it would be okay. He said it would be fine but we noticed that it started to chase and nip at the guppies. Well, today we now have three dead guppies and one still very alive Dalmation Molly. Is this common? Should we only keep larger fish with it? I don't know what to do as I have a VERY upset 6 year old now and I am not really trustworthy of PetSmart now!

Thank you for any advice.

So you only have one fish now, right?
We can help you work out the rest of your stocking, but we need to know how big the tank is. Could you also tell us how long it's been set up and whether it's cycled. PetSmart usually doesn't tell people about the nitrogen cycle, so if your tank isn't cycled that's probably why the guppies died, guppies will not survive a fish-in cycle.

Thanks.
