I think it's usually around 21-28 days. One of my females has been fat since I got her in December. So I guess she's not preggo, just a fat fish. My other female is trim and slim all the time. I'm guessing my male is shooting blanks.
Do you mean a black spot under the skin? That's something I've never seen on mine, but then mine have a lot of black spots all over.
My male does that dance too. My females get so aggravated with him and his dance they sit on the bottom sometimes.

I got my dalmation molly in december and she JUST had her babies about 2 weeks ago! Mollies can abort their pregnancies until they feel "safe" to give birth. Try adding more plants and hiding places if you haven't already.

that black spot is called a gravid spot and is thought to be the eyes of the babies forming in the womb. typically, gestation for dalamtion mollies is 28 days. give her time... you will prolly have a good batch of fry in the next 2 or 3 weeks!

That's very interesting! I'll be getting more plants someday but have to wait until the weather is warmer and can use 2 day shipping. My molly gets p****d at every fish that even tries to eat when she is eating (which is always)milly said:yeah im gonna get more plants...shes still eating,,but gettin a little p*****d of with the male
If I were to add some gravel, she would dive for it as fast as she can and try to eat it.
