Daisy Coral Feeling Bad

One of three things pops into my mind. First, when's the last time you calibrated/verified your salinity measuring device? Could be that it's drifted on you and is abnormally high.

Second, what's your alkalinity? Could be abnormally low.

And lastly, could be predatation. Any fish/crabs/snails/etc that are nipping at it?

I will re-calibrate my refractometer today and check the salinity, it should be fine I use topoff system, but who knows :) Alkl is 2.5meq/L its apx 8dKH, its low I am trying to raise it now.

I do have snails and crabs but never saw them interested in any corals I have. I also have 2 clowns but they are not insterested too. I gave it an iodione bath a couple of days ago it removed some bristleworms and pods but still coral does not feel that good.

I will let u know on salinity issue, maybe I will try to move it to another place.

Huh, that alk is "low" but not that low, certainly not too low for those corals. Make sure you check at night too... Predation doesn't have to happen during daylight hours ;)

ohh my.. my refractometer is fine but my salinity drop to 1.023 I did not notice that.
Now I turned off my topoff, will be adding salt water to slowly increase salinity.

How can I see those predators at night?

This is just a wild guess but one I might try when i get my tank set up(just to see night life :) ) A few hours after lights out get your camera and take a picture. Don't know how bad the flash'll turn out or if it would work. I would think anything there would retreat fast if lights were turned on or if a flashlight was shown. Maybe a flash can catch them....

Covering a flashlight with a thin red plastic to turn it into a red light will help you to view the tank at night. Most saltwater organisms cannot see red light and thus won't be bothered by it. Great way to view the tank at night.
