My dwarf gourami has a tiny little bump on his side. It looks just like someone has the head of a straightpin pushing it against his skin from inside. He's eating fine and acting normal, so I don't know if I should worry or not. It just came up yesterday afternoon.
My water stats are:
ammo 0, nitrite 0, nitrates 10, ph 6.8, temp 78.
The bump is right above his side fin in the picture in this link.
Thanks!

How long have you had him? Is he eating and behaving normaly?

I can't realy tell what that is. It may be a little cyst or something like that or it may be caused by a secondary infection (did you have ich in there recently by any chance?), a parasite or internal bacteria. It may also be a scale that's been nipped a bit.

The best thing is to watch carefuly.
It'll only be a real problem if it starts growing in size. It should then also be easier to see and, if you can determine that it's not external, you should then treat for internal bacteria (though a lot of these cysts and things can't actualy be treated and will continue to grow until the fish dies - though that can take a long time and won't be a problem for the fish until its in the later stages).

If you don't have any scaless fish or inverts, adding a little salt as a precaution may be a good idea. Don't over-do it as you don't even know if there's anything actualy wrong yet :p.

dwarf gouramis are prone to infection because of the massive inbreeding they've been through. It might be a minor infection that will grow big, or nothing at all.

I had a betta with a lump on his back. Never seemed to bother him either.

Hope all is well with your fish!
