My tank has been cycling for a week and 4 days to be exact, and iv had a neon tetra and 2 guppies in their since it was 4 days through cycling

would it be safe to put in two small angel fish now? the LFS sells angel fish about and inch and a half tall for about $4 each

i'm thinking about getting two so i can see them grow up and add significant value to my tank. yea...significants a big word....

any help would be great, ill probably wait until the 2 weeks is up so i can see peoples opions

What are your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate in this tank? If ammonia and nitrite are both at zero (which i really doubt because you haven't been cycling for very long) then you are can add more fish.

How big is your tank? I know angels need a fairly large tank...I've heard different things, but I think its 29 or 30 gal.

no, Angels need fully cycled aquariums, if you get them they may die from stress of going through the cycle

Your tank shouldn't be done cycling for about a month
what size tank do you have?
what are the water parameters?
i would not suggest getting angels yet, as neontetras aren't that hardy but when your tank is done cycling you should definitely get more neons, as they are schooling fish and i can't imagine your one you have alone is doing very well (it might appear to be ok but he will be feeling very insecure) but i wouldn't get any till its done cycling because neon tetras are somewhat delicate. and angels will probably eat the neons when they get bigger (they're territorial and somewhat agressive)

thanks for that, my angels with wait

20 gallon tank, would that be enough? it shouldn't have many other fish in, and i dont currently have an ammonia testing kit, iv got ph testing kit, ph up and ph down andantibacterials remedy for fish diseases........yea....

Angel fish have never interested me, so I haven't done much research on them. I'm 90% positive I heard that angels need atleast 30 gal, but I could be wrong.

The other day, when I was really pissed at someone who was being stupid, I typed up a big long post called Things Everyone Should Know and Own. I think it has alot of good info that will help you out. Don't worry, you're not the person who I was mad at which caused me to do this, just more one of those well if they see this, hopefully they will listen....

EDIT: Changed the entire post...amazing what happens after a little research.

This is quoting Tolak http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=99067

Many breeders keep breeding pairs in 20 highs 24"Lx12"Wx16"D, not 20 longs, 30"Lx12"Wx12"D. I've heard of people keeping pairs in 15 highs, 20"Lx12"Wx18"D.

I've kept standard fin pairs in 20 highs, veils seem to need a little more room, 29's are better, 30"Lx12"Wx18"D. 20's are 16" tall, a veil can get 12" tall if you include the fins. This doesn't leave a lot of vertical room.

29's are 18" tall, leaving a little more room to swim & grow. You can also keep a school of corys & a small plec in with 2 angels in a 29, you really have to keep an eye on water parameters to do this in a 20.

Fully grown angels really need 10 gallons each, you can keep potential breeders in 5 gallons each, angels tend to pair up before reaching maximim size. By doing this, you can get 2 compatable fish, just make sure you have someplace to rehome the other 2, and keep a divider you know works right next to the tank.
