i have a 30 gallon tank with 3 gold fish in the tank, i was wondering if i can change the water out of the tank (25% or something like that) because the water is starting to become cloudy.

my tank still hasn't fully cycled, its been like 2 months now and the amonia finally dropped to 0, and my nitrites are off the charts (API tested, immediately turns purple).

I read in fishless cycle post that it is going to take longer for the nitrite to drop to 0 :( . Also can i change the water and maybe clean the filter a bit? its getting cloudy

i don't want to delay the cycling process even more, thats why im asking if i can change the water

dont clean the filter if your still cycling, as for the water change id suggest a large ish one to reduce the nitrite as the tanks appears to be in the last part of the cycle

Na dont change the water, theres nothing to look at yet so cloudy waters not a problem :) when the cycles done, big 50% water change (Clear the water) and immediate full stocking :)

If you have fish in the tank then yes, change the water. High nitrite will poison the fish you have.

No it won't, contrary to popular belief. It can actually speed it up, but the health of the fish should take priority over the speed of the cycle.

Do an immediate 50% water change and another in the morning, then test again. Nitrite will kill your fish. You need to get it out the tank asap. I agree with st24rsap though, don't clean the filter.
