I have been cycling my 29 gallon with 4 cherry barbs. I know this is not the preferred way; but, I didn't hear about fishless cycling until they were already in my tank. Anyway, after 1 week, my ammonia levels continue to read 0 (Bright Yellow). And my nitrites are 0 too. Is this normal?
Should I increase the number of fish?
Or should I return the fish to the LFS (they said they would take them) and start a fishless cycle? What do you do if you don't have any mature biofilter material?
