Cycling With Fish

Hey There.

I bought myself a tropical aquariam 60l and filled with water ext. I left it to stand for 2 weeks with the pump running and everything. After two week I bought myself some fish without knowing about cycling etc.

After I got the fish I started reading up about keeping tropical fish etc. Then I discovered everything about cycling. Now I have a problem I'm doing cycling with fish for about 5 days now. The ph is 6.7 and ammonia levels are sky high about 3.0mg\l.
Yesterday I bought Tetra Easy Balance and I'm doing regular water changes.

I have a fishing pond outside with a biological filter. At the bottom of the filter there's that black tubing. Will it help if I take about 2 of those and throw it in the water, can it maybe help to speed up the bacteria production?

So if anyone has more advice that will be appreciated

You can fish-in cycle as you are successfuly aslong as you do regular water changes (maybe daily). Or as you mentioned you can use some mature media from another pump also to help speed it up

with your ammonia that high you might have to do a few water changes to get it down to .25. you try feeding everyother day to lessen the bio load a bit. after that as long as you keep up the daily water changes it should cycle pretty quickly.

Oh so it will help if I take about 2 of those plastic tubings and place it in the water. Is the Tetra Easy Balance also going to help

Dont use bottle potions to speed up your cycle. They rarely work and may even cause more bad than good.

But mature filter media in your own filter, not just in the tank water.

Just make sure it doesnt have diesease or anything.

EasyBalance is supposed to be a substitute for water changes; very regular water changes are exactly what you need if you can't rehome the fish whilst cycling. I wouldn't touch the EasyBalance again. What you're going to need is AquaSafe. A large bottle, as you'll be doing a lot of water changes.

Yes I do have AquaSafe and use it everytime I change the water (and that is daily).

Ok so I will leave the easy balance alone.
