cycling with fish

hey i have a 30 g and i was wondering how long will it take to cycle im using cycle and i have two tigers a sunrise guarami and a pleco ... soon to get 3 more tigers after the tank is cycled and an albino frog

I woulda gone with 5 tiger barbs off the bat, they're hardy enough to cycle a tank by themselves and u wont have to deal with the 2 nipping the fins of the gourami for the 2-3 weeks it may take to cycle.

Cycling time varies, it can take a week to 2 months to get it properly. My advice is to test your water for ammonia and nitrites every other day at a MINIMUM and do water changes as soon as the water params get dangerous for the health of the fish.

My tank water tests were perfect from the begining with exceptin to a bit of hardeness. However, My tank did not complete the cycle until the 4 th week. Now it is so crystal clear I think I coudl swim in it haha

ya i would have got the 5 tiger barbs exept for two reasons i dident know enough then and the pet store only had two. and what suprised me the most is the tigers are showing no sings of aggresion whatsoever to the guarami but the guarami doesent like the pleco to much haha if he sticks to the glass the guarami comes and looks like hes trying to nock him off

LoL! The tigers may get nippy later once they're more comfortabe in there or they may not...some people on here have never had a problem with nipping!

i have a 20 gal with a 3 spot gourami, 1 rainbow shark, and 5 TBs(5 at point but had to take one to a lfs becuase it was shunned by the other so had 4 for like a week and then my mom decided to be nice and got me another one, i was really upset when i took one to the lfs so i guess that y she did it)the only probs ive had with it is that i cant get ghost shrimp to live long or my snails to breed. anyway i thought i would share.
