Cycling With Fish Acceptable Levels Checking

what are acceptable levels for ammona , nitrite and nitrate.
 
 
I would guess 0.1 , 0.7 and 40 .
 
is there a good site that gives levels etc

Ammonia keys off NH3
 
Nitrite can be blocked by chloride
 
Nitrate by some at 20 ppm, others at 40.
 
Different fish are able to tolerate different levels of all three for different amounts of time, so there is no universal answer.

I've not clicked the link so I've no idea if it says it there but remember that in a tank with a Ph below 6.5 (I think it's around 6.5, might be a bit less) ammonia presents as ammonium which isn't toxic
 
As TTA says .... there's no universal answer as there's too many variables

Akasha- I like to link folks to an ammonia calculator. it allows one to calculate how much of the total ammonia they just tested in their tank is NH3. There are a bunch of these available on the net but I like this one as it works for both nitrogen ions and total ions in testing as well as any salinity- (fresh, brackish or full salt).
