Can someone please tell me how many days/weeks it will take to settle?

Added the bacteria to my filter this morning fish had an almost immediate energy boost and are looking even better than before.

Just don't want to add any more too soon. Is a week or two long enough?

Melissa :)

There's no way to be certain, because of the number of variables.  But, from the sound of it in the other thread, it won't be long.  Could be a matter of hours or days, but I wouldn't say weeks.  Your new sponge sounds very 'nasty', in a good way. :p  So, adding that to the tank will greatly help you.

In general, the recommendation is to wait AT LEAST one week, preferably two weeks of double zeros (ammonia and nitrite) before adding more fish to the tank.

Haha yes it certainly looked nasty - plenty of slime which I assume is a good thing?

It is a really good thing.
I hope you are cycled fast!
I bought a used filter of someone and asked him if he had washed it, he said yes but only slightly with warm tap water.
It took a week and I was cycled ;)

Just make sure you test that water with liquid tests!
If you dose 3ppm ammonia  and in a 24hours period you are at 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, you are good to go!

Hope you enjoy your new tank!
