Cycling then stocking

I am going to cycle my Hap tank with some Platies, then after the water is good and the filter cycled I will remove them and stock with Haps. I am going to stock 6 Hap Ahli and 6 Hap Obliquidens. The tank is 150 ltr, 48". My question is will the filter cope with a big stocking in one go like that or will I get Ammonia and Nitrite spikes? will the fish be OK if it does spike?

ummm..i wuldnt add them all at one go...maybe one half then the other..just so u can make sure that nothing happens to the water params....

If you have another tank running with a good stock - add the new filter to that and leave it for a few weeks - then transfer it into the new tank when you add the fish

And the best thing to do is the fishless cycle then you could add them all at once

Yeah, I thought about a fishless cycle, I can get Ammonia from work. How much will I need for 150ltr tank?

running the new filter in one of your other tanks for a few weeks is going be a lot easier than gong through a fishless cycle.

run it on your most heavily stocked tank. simple
