Hi there,
I have my first aquarium for 2 weeks now. 16 gallons, 5 small fish in it.
about a week ago I started regularly testing for ammonia, nitrite & nitrate. I expected to see the up and down of the readings as the books say. but what all my readings are plain 0. right at the beginning I used a "bacteria supplement" to speed up the cycling (also added some gravel from the fishbowl)
So, my question is: why don't I see the up and down in the ammonia and nitrite levels ? did I already miss the cycling and it is now completed ? what's the deal ? I also have 3 live plants in the tank.
this is my first aquarium ever so all my knowledge is purely "theoretical"
Kate
PS: I use the "5-in-1" and "Live NH3" tests my Mardel
